Application Development:
Design, code, test, and debug mainframe applications using languages such as COBOL, CICS, and JCL.
System Maintenance
Troubleshoot and resolve issues, perform performance tuning, and upgrade system software as needed.
Collaboration:
Work with system analysts, project managers, and other IT professionals to gather requirements and specifications for new applications or modifications to existing ones.
Documentation:
Maintain detailed documentation of code, processes, and system configurations to ensure clarity and compliance with standards.
Testing:
Execute various forms of testing, including unit, system, regression, and integration testing to ensure the quality and functionality of applications.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
Technical Skills
Proficiency in mainframe programming languages (e.g., COBOL, JCL, DB2), and familiarity with mainframe tools and methodologies.
Problem-Solving Abilities
Strong analytical skills to troubleshoot and resolve complex issues effectively.
Experience
Previous experience in mainframe development or a related field is often required, with specific experience in the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) being advantageous.
